A reminder about the Public Hearing scheduled for Tuesday April 24, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Brennan Park within the Stawamus Chief Activity Room. The Hearing is for public input into the proposed changes to the Official Community Plan and the rezoning of the Garibaldi Springs golf course. The District Council has already given this development first and second reading and they are expected to give it the third and final reading immediately after the Hearing. Once it it is give...n final reading, the golf course will be rezoned to residential and the project will move forward. Attached is a link to the Bylaw changes and the development proposal. https://squamish.ca//garibaldi-springs-public-hearing-pac/. As you can see in the package, the proposal is calling for a minimum of 350 homes, with access from Tantalus Rd. This means that in addition to the 120 homes under construction at Skyridge, Garibaldi Way and Tantalus Rd will have to face additional traffic from the Garibaldi Springs homes. This could equate to close to 700+ additional vehicles. In order to accommodate the additional traffic, the District is considering making Tantalus Rd a 4-lane road, which would remove the bike lane and street parking.
