25 years ago... E!7 - our one year anniversary ----------------------------------- 25 years ago we threw our 1 year anniversary party at the Gunns Rd. location.... which was the 1st party there... ever. It took a solid month of cleaning to get the place up to snuff but it was worth it. We had seven separate areas (we shut a few down in the morning due to low numbers) and 3 stages. Rather than just leave flyers in piles everywhere, we personally handed out "invites" at raves... to folks we thought would enjoy the party - as well as friends. We used a freight elevator as the main entrance to the party, and wrote in chalk on the wall "you're getting closer!" as people ascended to the party level... people thought it was kinda neeto - however it was super cold out, and we regretted limiting the speed we could get people inside. The main room was located in what was formally used as a church, and the rest were in the industrial areas that were formerly a meat packaging plant in the 50's. Contrary to urban legend, it was not a slaughterhouse nor was anything ever killed there. Anyways... the event was a lot of fun - and as a result - we found the area (the former men's/woman's change rooms for the plant) that led to "ThE! Space". Our fourth event and the one that transitioned us from a "small' company to a "hey, those guys can throw a decent medium size party" status. Located at "the Latvian Hall" on College Street in Toronto, it was a 3 room barn burner of a rave. Hot as fuck, even with a dozen fans i rented to try and cool things down - but no one cared. the music was stellar all night and i will never forget how the vibe just kept up for the entire show. For this event, we had a chill'ish room ...on the third floor, and then two equally "main rooms": "Room A" which featured acid music, headlined by Murat + ALGOrythm+chickenhead and then we had a "Room E" headlined by...sheesh... everyone was good... let's go with Terry Kelly and Matt "C". Special mention the go-go dancers in Room E for enduring the heat!!! *decor note: The big ass E! you see is a collage of flyers made by Ryan7 and was a serious pain in the ass to hang without wrecking it... but was worth the effort :) *flyer note: in order for me to scan the image from the movie "Poltergeist" - i had to leave a $50 deposit with our local VHS rental shop, who then rented me the box for a day and kept the tape lol. keep in mind it was 1995 and the interwebz was in it's infancy.
