Eagle Rise Animal Hospital 14.11.2020

An update for our clients and beloved patients Although we have already implemented several changes to help maintain the health and safety of our community and staff, we wanted to highlight a few key differences in the way we are doing things lately. Typically we enjoy our patients and clients popping in but currently our hospital access is limited to staff members and the pets we are treating. If you need prescriptions, food or an appointment please call us before coming ...down. 250-590-8445 If you have already booked an appointment: Please call us when you arrive in our parking lot. We will get a medical history over the phone and instruct you to bring your animal to our doors where one of our staff will be waiting and ready to bring your pet inside for their physical exam. Once the exam is completed a veterinarian will call you with their findings and recommendations. Once you let us know what you are comfortable with we will treat your pet and take payment over the phone. For food or prescription purchases: Phone ahead to be prepared. We want to ensure that we have your food/medications in stock and ready for pick up before you arrive. Currently we have an increase in demand and lower than normal staff numbers so it may take longer than usual to have these items prepared for you. If you have already placed your food or prescription order we will contact you when it is ready for pick-up however, be aware that our distributors are also experiencing a backlog. If possible we would encourage all prescriptions and foods to be paid for over the phone in advance. For surgery, sedation or general anesthesia patients: Call us when you arrive and we will do our normal surgical intake over the phone. Make sure to leave a contact number with us so we can reach you throughout the day if necessary. After this we will direct you to bring your pet to our door where our staff members will be there to receive them. We will call you once your pet is ready to leave the hospital and we will go over any take home instructions and payments over the phone. Thank you for helping us protect our staff and our community so we can continue to help our patients. Your team at Eagle Rise Animal Hospital

Attention outdoor enthusiasts! Spear grass is a type of grass that grows around the Victoria area and is characterized as having a sharp, barbed seed. What makes spear grass dangerous to pets is that it can stick to your pet’s fur and subsequently burrow deep into the skin because of its barbed awn. The body will start an inflammatory response to the foreign object and potentially cause a serious infection that is very painful. Most often, Spear grass will burrow into the fur around the feet but it has also been found in ears, eyes and noses! Make sure you check your pet for spear grass after it has been running in the grass!

Here at Eagle Rise Animal Hospital we are continuing to provide our community with the best possible patient care and client service amidst the COVID-19 outbreaks. We have already increased our cleaning and disinfection protocols within our hospital, and we are strictly adhering to proper respiratory and hand hygiene. Our staff are following the guidelines set forth by the BCCDC and WHO to keep our team, and our clients as safe as possible. As socially responsible members of ...the community we want to provide some options for those clients that are quarantined, at-risk or partaking in social distancing. 1. Social distancing friendly food/product purchases- If you are running low on your pets food but wanting to minimize your physical interaction our helpful reception team can take food orders, process payments and organize a no contact pick-up over the phone. 2. Owner absent exams- if you are participating in social distancing/quarantine, or are a part of the at-risk population but have a sick animal you have the option to drop your animal off and we can perform an exam and discuss treatment options over the phone. Please call to inquire with our reception team if this is an option you would like to try. We want to encourage the health and safety for all of our clients and patients so should you feel symptomatic, are quarantined or minimizing your contact we encourage you to call the clinic before coming in so we can find an option that best suits you and your pets needs. Sincerely, Your team at Eagle Rise Animal Hospital

We wanted to take a moment to recognize Riley (and Michelle). Riley has been a part of Michelle’s family since he was 8 weeks old, and together they have put in over a year of training to get him ready for his future as a service dog. You may have seen him resting comfortably in his bed behind the desk at either clinic (we can assure you that he is working very hard). Riley is being trained to be a Dog Guide and is working towards being a PTSD or Autism support dog. Toda...y is the last day you will see him as he starts his advanced training next week. It is a bitter sweet day for all of the Riley fans. We will miss him very much and we wish him the absolute very best. See more
