The school year for all public school students and pre-primary children in Nova Scotia will end on June 5. Teachers will continue to work to the end of June to ...finalize assessments and report cards. Thank you to students, teachers, education workers and families for their hard work and commitment to learning during the closure. Any student who is on track to graduate, will graduate. Any student who is on track to move to the next grade, will pass. While formal learning will be completed, government will continue to make available the at-home learning packages throughout the summer, so students and families have access to this learning resource. Families of Pre-primary to Grade 9 students can receive the At-Home Student Learning Packages online at https://curriculum.novascotia.ca/parentfamily-information. Families without access to technology can sign-up for home flyer delivery via SaltWire at www.saltwire.com/nshomelearning or call 1-800-565-3339. If you already receive flyers you will receive the learning package. Provincial exams and assessments are cancelled for the remainder of the year. Licensed childcare providers will remain closed to June 5. Government will develop a plan on how to safely reopen the licensed childcare sector for children, families and staff. A reopening date will be confirmed closer to this timeframe.

Story baskets are a great way to extend an interest in a book. Grab a basket and fill it with items to support literacy, imagination and play. Here are my story baskets and other teachers (with links). What story would you like to see as a basket and I will try and do it for you.

Please share: Due to school closures, I will be offering free art lessons on our Facebook page each weekday until our kiddos return to school. These will be fa...mily oriented for a range of ages and utilize supplies typically found in your home. Creativity can ease stress, expedite learning & allow us to see circumstances in different ways. Since we will all be home gathered together over the next few weeks unexpectedly, it is the perfect time to discover and grow new talent! We will be offering take home kits from the studio for additional lessons beginning next Wednesday. I always pull from my classical training as a BFA studio art major and 25 years as a professional artist, but also love to introduce process learning- In other words- I like to show you how to do it AND get messy! Join us at 1pm CT this Monday for our first lesson! Hint: For Monday, gather plain paper, a baking sheet, cooking spray/oil and pencils...we will be drawing faces!
