Let’s create a fun and healthy snack that your children will be able to be a part of the process! What you’ll need: Bananas... Pretzels Strawberries Raisins Marshmallow / chocolate chips (optional) Directions: 1. With adult assistance, slice one banana into slices 2. Slice the strawberries in half to create a hat 3. Have children place the bananas and remaining fruit on to a plate to take the shape of a snowman 4. Create a face with the raisins and / or chocolate chips 5. Use the pretzels as arms 6. Marshmallows can be used as snow 7. Enjoy your snowman snack! This fun and easy snack is a great way to encourage a love for fruits and vegetables within your children. Talking about the health benefits of how fruits help your children grow will help develop healthy habits as they grow older! Having your children a part of the creation process is a great way to ignite the joy of cooking and learning about the food groups. Enjoy this fun snack today!

Today at Sing Along and Storytime we read Hello World: Weather by Jill McDonald MATERIALS NEEDED: Paper Popsicle sticks (optional)... Glue Scissors Scraps of fabric, felt, yarn, googly eyes, etc. Crayons, markers What to do: Talk to your child about different clothing for different seasons Read or view Hello World: Weather by Jill McDonald https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM2Py8EeML4 Use paper to design a doll. Cut out and glue paper doll onto popsicle stick (optional) Use other items like scraps of fabric, felt, yarn, etc. to design items of clothing for all seasons such as shirts, pants, shoes, boots, sweaters, coats, hats, mittens, scarfs, etc. Cut out and glue clothing items on paper doll. Finish creating your paper doll by adding a face. Think of a name for your doll. Think of trying: What other materials can you use to make paper dolls? Try items like old socks or other items you have at home. Take a look outside, what items in nature can you use to make a homemade doll? Here is a short video to inspire some ideas while making paper dolls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikDL2ASdr_Y Benefits: These activities help children with creativity, social and language skills while they are taking part in pretend play with simple scenarios like paper dolls. Children are using new weather and clothing words along with gestures to express themselves.
