Free art is a great way for children to express themselves . Let them use the materials they want to create with, how they are going to create it, and watch their projects come together. For this project, we started with their names and the children chose the colours of paint they wanted to use. We used a variety of objects to paint with including toy trucks, toothbrushes, a ball, paint brushes, and a plastic fork.... After painting, they chose to go for a nature walk and add some natural items to their work. It was amazing watching them work together, share ideas, and express pride in their work.

Cooking with children helps them gain independence, problem solve, enhance hand-eye coordination, measure, count, follow directions, and learn about cause and effect! It helps to build stronger relationships with your children by working together and you all get to enjoy something yummy you made in the end! What are your favourite things to make as a family?

Do you have a bunch of broken crayons laying around? Why not melt them down and make your own multicoloured crayon!! 1 - Just break the crayons into small bits.... 2 - Place them in a mold. 3 - Use a hair dryer on the highest setting to melt the crayons. Please use caution with your children as this can get quite hot. 4 - Let them harden and then colour away!

Who likes playing Hide and Seek? Try it out with letters and numbers around your house or yard! You can print them out on your computer, use letters/numbers you already have, or just draw some on paper.... Hide them all over the house and let your children find them. Older children may be able to identify what letters/numbers they have found. You can help the younger ones out so they can start recognizing their numbers and letters. If you would like some more ideas on activities you can do with letters and numbers please feel free to send me a message or call me!

Once the numbers are set up just call out a number and have the children smack it!... You can make it more challenging for the older children by mixing up the numbers on the table or turning some upside down. Next you can try out the alphabet or sight words too!

Looking for a mess free outdoor activity to do this weekend? Painting with water is easy to do, and all you need is a paint brush, water and a flat surface! Experiment with it, see what you can create, and watch as it all disappears with the sun! You can try "painting" on different textures or surfaces, or try on a wall and compare it to "painting" the sidewalk. Is this something you are going to try or have already tried? Feel free to share photos so we can see your creations!
