The fall colors are gone. Now it is time to think about protecting your plants and other components of your landscape for the winter. Wrap young evergreens as well as shrubs with sensitive spring buds (i.e. Magnolia). Cover up the crown of your rose bushes. Create barriers from salt spreaders and snow equipment. That road salt is an awful thing, if you can avoid it, please do. Also, staking out the edges of your driveway will help decrease turf repairs in the spring.

Wow, what a busy spring. Better late then never. Tip of the month for MAY: Plan well in advance! ... If you want your landscape project completed in the Spring (no matter how big or small) your best bet to have a reliable contractor for April, May or June is to start your planning in Oct-Feb. Design work and Project Management require 2 to 4 weeks of time, and Quality contractors book very fast. So to ensure your spot in their work schedule be sure to plan well in advance.
