Every day we lose 136 species , not every year every day. Take that in for a second. You may think there isn’t a lot you can do to change this scary number but there is! 1) Educate yourself. Learn about endangered species in your area. Take the time to learn about how interesting and important they are and then share that knowledge with your friends and family. 2) Say no to products made from threatened or endangered species (or just any animal in general ).... 3) Protect wildlife habitat. One of the greatest threats that many species face is the destruction of their homes . Become an activist when it comes to preserving forests, swamps, and other habitats. Sign petitions and stay knowledgeable about what’s going on in your community. 4) Buy ethical and sustainable products. Sustainable and low waste products are often made with earth in mind. It’s important we keep our planet clean and healthy to support the health of all it’s living creatures. 5) Avoid palm oil. Many forests have been destroyed in order to make room for the growth of palm oil. Check your labels before purchasing products. The more we say no the more companies will listen and have to change what they use. These are all actions we can start taking today in order to prevent further species lost. We know you all want to protect the earth’s most vulnerable. We got this! #education #endageredspecies #savewildlife #preservewildlife #sustainable #sustainableliving #zerowaste #zerowastecommunity #bethechange

ZERO WASTE HACK - DIY Liquid Laundry Soap This recipe is from the amazing @wellnessmama and It’s one of our favs (see below for the recipe)! Did you know that most store bought laundry detergents are filled with a TON of chemicals (most which we can’t even pronounce) and let’s not forget about the waste. There are about 700 000 000 plastic laundry jugs dumped into landfills across North America each year .EACH YEAR! You can make a massive impact by switching to a greener ...more earth friendly detergent or by making your own DIY Liquid Laundry Soap: - Grate one bar of soap (pure Castile soap) with cheese grater or food processor. - Put grated soap in pan with 2 quarts water and gradually heat, stirring constantly until soap is completely dissolved. - Put 4.5 gallons of really hot tap water in a 5-gallon bucket (available for free in bakeries at grocery stores, just ask them) and stir in 2 cups of borax and 2 cups of Washing Soda until completely dissolved. - Pour soap mixture from pan into 5-gallon bucket. Stir well. -Cover and leave overnight. Shake or stir until smooth and pour into gallon jugs or other containers. -Use 1/2 to 1 cup per load. **If you would prefer a powder recipe check out @wellnessmama’s website for instructions #laundrysoap #diylaundrysoap #laundrydetergent #greenlaundry #zerowaste #diy #zerowasteliving #sustainableliving #sustainability #education

Covid has really messed up our whole low waste lifestyle. Anyone else feel this? . With that in mind, we're trying to come up with new ways to bring sustainability into our lives. . This means finding new reuse hacks, saving energy where we can, travelling around less (locally of course), still eating vegan, and reducing our food waste significantly (this is still something we struggle with, but we're trying harder each and every day). *This is a reuse hack of a used lemon peel with some baking soda to deep-clean the sink*. Who has any new sustainability hacks we should all know about? let us know below
