Churches that Heal (Doug Murren) is one of my course textbooks. Doug makes bold statements about discipleship. Making disciples must be our goal, not satisfying consumersNo church can be a healing church without a good-sized core of people who are willing to be disciples rather than consumers. It takes courage and honesty for local church leaders to take inventory, ask the hard questions, and make the changes necessary to become a local church known for the reproduction a...nd multiplication that results from relational discipleship - the method of choice modelled by Jesus. It has been said that church programs need to support the goal of discipleship - if they don’t then either change them so they do, or stop them and focus on what does produce disciples who make disciples. We believe there are a few core discipleship principles, often neglected, that need to characterize the local church and that give a strong foundation on which to build effective kingdom ministry, strategies, growth, and discipleship. https://easterngate.ca/packages/

For pastors, local church staff, ministry workers, and lay leaders in Atlantic Canada: - Have you ever seriously wondered if your present church programs produce the reproduction/multiplication that Biblical discipleship was meant to produce? Is your church characterized by Biblical discipleship? - Is the kingdom of God growing through your programs and ministries? - Are youth and young adults being discipled and released into ministry and leadership?... - Are relational and attitudinal obstacles impeding leadership, love for one another, and ministry? - Have you considered the need for spiritual revival? - Are you content with the Biblical knowledge and application in your congregation? There are a few core discipleship principles, often neglected, that need to characterize the local church and that give a strong foundation on which to build effective kingdom ministry, strategies, growth, and discipleship. The toxic political and ideological climate in the USA and Canada provides opportunity for re-evaluating how, why, and for whom we vote. For discerning and determined Christians the Scriptures will guide, inform, educate, and influence our assessment of candidates, political parties, platforms, and voting decisions. Sadly, many Christians fail to use this basic test and base their voting decisions on other personal, family, secular, and ideological factors, effectively relega...ting the Scriptures to a minimal (if any) role. Mainstream media and academic experts become primary opinion-shapers - having more influence than the Scriptures in the informing and decision-making process. This bears tragic consequences at the polls. In my 48 years of voting I have learned to evaluate social, religious, academic, and political platforms and their associated worldviews, values, issues, and policies on a sort of a scale. For the sake of voting decisions, since no one party represents a perfect alternative, I’ve tried to measure which party’s platform comes closest to Platform A depicted in the chart. Obviously, other people use other methods and factors. The reason I use this measurement model is because it reflects my understanding of priorities facing a society priorities which influence other important issues. In recent decades many people would prioritize environmentalism and climate change. I share a concern for the environment and our collective future but have not included these on my list simply because they have become so infected with political poison, scientific manipulation, academic misinformation, and ideological fanaticism, that there is no rational consensus for a common understanding of caring for the environment or the climate. That said, responsible stewardship and treatment of our earth and its resources is a very important issue of our day. Putting in the effort to re-evaluate how, why, and for whom we vote has the advantage of helping us realize how times change, how we change, and how that affects our voting decisions. Please vote.
