Hi everyone! My name is Nasim Makaremi (@nasim.m_art ). I am so excited to share some of my artworks on EE Instagram as a part of their FARR program. First, I’d like to introduce myself; I am an artist originally from Iran and currently living in beautiful St. John’s. I work primarily in drawing, textiles, and oil paint. I have a MSc in physics that I feel has influenced my creative practice, and how I look at art. My artworks focus on the censorship of women’s feelings and t...heir lived experiences; I use animals, such as a crow or moose, to censor sexuality and themes of gender discrimination. I enjoy drawing phycological layers within the personal, and society at large. I pull inspiration from these layers of emotions, memories, and other secret codes within my artwork. #easternedgegallery #farrprogram #drawing #painting #contemporaryart See more

Did you know EE has a library? Throwback Thursday! This was in 2018 when Programming Coordinator Charlotte May Hobden and Executive Director Philippa Jones set up our David Tuck Memorial Library. Come see for yourself the improvements we’ve made over the years! The library is a completely free and accessible resource, just like most things at Eastern Edge! We offer an extensive collection of art periodicals and artist books for short-term loans to our members: a perfect so...lution for both your leisurely reads and artistic research! While we are continually updating our catalogue, we encourage all members to browse our collection and enjoy the quiet library space during gallery hours. If you aren’t able to make it in but are interested in availing of this free resource, email us! We will ship a book to you for free*. Additionally, The David Tuck Memorial Library has a little bit of wall space for artists to show some of their work! There is no formal process to apply to this, simply email us your ideas and we’ll talk about a time you can add them to the library! *Click here for further details: https://easternedge.ca/about/library/

Reasons to get St. Michael's Printshop's inaugural Print Subscription: It’s an incredible deal! You would pay more for these fine art prints if you purchased them individually; the value of these hand-printed works certainly exceeds the $500 cost. It is something to look forwar...d to all year long! You will receive a print in March, June, September, and December 2021. You can gift it to yourself! You’re supporting local artists, St. Michael’s Printshop, and growing your art collection! The photos shown here are samples of the artist’s past works.
