With the most recent Alberta Provincial announcement the Eastlink Centre is closing the Fitness Centre for individual workout bookings and group fitness activities in alignment with mandatory public health orders. Effective today, the Eastlink Centre and Coca-Cola Centre will be temporarily closed to the public for a minimum of four weeks as required by the Province. Gymniks childcare and LaValley Physiotherapy will be open, with access through the West entrance during operating hours. The Collision Reporting Centre will remain open, visitors are asked to call ahead for access via the South entrance. The Hat Trick Grill at the Coca-Cola Centre will remain open for takeout, curbside pickup and delivery.

Construction began on January 5, 2021 on the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units at the Eastlink Centre. During construction you may expect to see: - More workers on site... - Occasional heavy equipment accessing the site - Some initial noise when the CHP turbines start-up - Some of the parking stalls on Knowledge Way closed (the ring road behind ELC) - Changes to landscaping - Seven aspen trees will be removed and replaced with upgraded landscaping - The area in front of the units will see a change in landscaping during the summer of 2021 Construction is anticipated to conclude by the end of March. On November 12, the Province of Alberta announced additional public health measures and recommendations for communities under the enhanced category. The City ...of Grande Prairie is under this category and effective immediately the following restrictions apply. Mandatory Measures: >> Ban on indoor group fitness classes and team sport activities (Nov 13-27). >> Ban on group performance activities: singing, dancing and theatre (Nov 13-27). >> Restaurants, bars, lounges and pubs must stop liquor sales by 10 p.m. and close by >> 11 p.m. - applies to Class A, B or C licences (Nov 13-27). >> 15-person limit on social and family gatherings - indoors and outdoors - where people are mixing and mingling. >> 50-person limit on indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies and funeral services. >> Faith-based gatherings limited to 1/3 capacity at one time. The province has also outlined voluntary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 that are available at https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx City staff are currently assessing impacted recreation services. The Eastlink Centre has cancelled fitness classes for the next two weeks and is beginning to inform participants. Health and Safety measures will be reassessed before classes are implemented. Per provincial guidelines, the fitness centre and aquatics areas are available for individual use. The City of Grande Prairie’s Mandatory Face Coverings (Masks) Bylaw C-1426 trigger point has been reached, meaning that face coverings and masks in indoor space...s are now required within the City as of October 26, 2020. The bylaw is in effect for indoor, enclosed or substantially enclosed public places. It was triggered by a combined total active case number of over 100 within the City and County. The City of Grande Prairie thanks all residents for their diligence, understanding, and cooperation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using face coverings or masks is an additional layer of protection against the spread of COVID-19 and will help protect the health of the public and the economy. The Coca-Cola Centre is currently seeking a new vendor to become the exclusive provider of the facility’s concession, lounge and catering services.
