Change is coming to the story of organic farming...and going back to real organic farms is the best place to begin retelling the story.

#knowyourfarmer #coastalorganic "And when it came to the organic eggs, not all of them tested equally. In Marketplace's test, organic eggs produced on small farms had more nutrients than the big-brand organic eggs sold at Canada's largest grocers under private labels and by two of the largest egg brands in the country." https://www.cbc.ca//marketp/marketplace-egg-test-1.5971608... There is a rush to scoop up kelp going on around the world...we need to go slowly and ensure we have what we need for our own purposes before considering entering into global supply chains with little to no science or regulations in place. https://www.wired.com/story/carbon-neutral-cows-algae/
Huge news!! Finally after years of trial and error the Gander town council seems to have gotten around to seriously considering a regular Farmers' Market starting in early summer this year!! On the heels of the one day event last fall which was a great success it appears the current events organizer for the town of Gander Kelly Sceviour has received enough positive feedback to begin planning a regular market. There are still some logistical issues like getting formal council ...approval etc but it looks good. What we need to make sure of is that council understands the demand for a market exists and its something the people of Gander want. So if you have time either call Kelly at 709.651.5936 or (preferably) email her at [email protected] to indicate your support for the market to make sure she has lots of backing when presenting the idea to council for approval. This will need alot of community volunteer hours to get moving so if you have time to volunteer or sit on a committee to help get things moving please indicate your willingness so the council knows its there. If you own a business and can assist in any way, or would like to provide in-kind help personally please also indicate this when you contact the town. Recreation & Community Services - Town of Gander
