The last time I had Karma, Niko & Inca here, was at xmas. These three are the sweetest. Inca is older and just loves to sniff around and occasional chin scratches. Karma loves to snugglle on the couch and Niko is so happy to have a variety of stuffies :)

I havent seen her since March and I went to go visit her yesterday. She was so excited to see me . We went for a nice walk around Lac Beauchamp in Gatineau, brought her for a swim and she told me a lot of I love You

This is so unfortunate . I started Country Living Dog Resort (Cage-Free) in the early 2000s and sold it to Cheryl in 2009. She continuously grew the business and when Covid hit, it really hit the boarding kennels hard. She is, unfortunately, closing her doors this month after 11yrs of hard work. I know how much of your blood, sweat and tears go into running your own business and this is such a hard and devastating decision to make.... Wishing her the best of luck moving forward.

Having two 10-week old puppies you want to make sure some playtime together but LOTS of separate time as well. Interrupting the play often when they are together and lots of pee breaks!! Setting up a schedule (morning/afternoon/evening) will help keep these two from developing some bad habits and set them up for success!

Ezrie absolutely LOOOOVES doing parkour agility! When she gets here she sniffs for only a few minutes and then she wants to work. 45min is a long time for one dog and we usually take lots of breaks, allow the dogs to sniff etc. Ezrie just wants to do run after run after run after run! She is SO focused on her owner Josee and just loves it! ... Ezrie is deaf so we had to figure out hand signals that she reacts to and its been such a cool experience seeing her grow and seeing which ones are more effective

Mental Enrichment Idea Day #50 - Hide & Seek! **Today will be the last day of Mental Enrichment Ideas! Hope you were inspired by these brain games!** Hide & Seek was Breezes FAVOURITE mealtime game. I would ask for a Sit & Stay next to the island in the kitchen and then I would go all over the dining room & living room and hide her kibble. Then Id say "Go Find It!" and she would sniff around the house looking for her food. I put the kibble high and low so she learne...d to not only sniff the ground but higher up as well. Tonight I played this game with my foster dog Yura To start, make it easy for your pooch! Have someone hold Fluffy and hide a few pieces where Fluffy can see and then give the command. When they find the kibble, say YESSS! and give lots of praise. Continue to increase the difficulty until your dog understands the concept of the game. You can do this with food or yourself or the kids! Have fun!!

Mental Enrichment Idea #49 - Herbalicious What to do with all those clam-like containers that fresh herbs come in? They make a fun mental enrichment game for your pooch! Fill them up with kibble/treats and have your dog try to open them up.... Fill them with some wet or raw food Hide them around the house for a fun game of Hide a Treat My foster dog Yura wasnt too sure what to do with these at first. It took her some time to figure out how to open them and get to the food. If your dog is struggling with an enrichment game, make it easy for them to start. We want enrichment to be FUN!

When dogs board with me I am always paying attention to their body language while playing. Interrupting the play ensures the dogs dont get overly excited and/or aroused. By doing so, it allows the dogs to calm down a bit before going at it again. In this video of Winnie (10months), Finlay (almost 2) and my ever growing godson Ozzy (5 months), you will see a lot of great play body language. Its even play between all the dogs, no body slams, no overly aggressive play or... rude behaviours. WE need to teach our dog proper play etiquette. Ozzy is only five months old and he tends to bark in dogs faces to get them to play. He was doing that at first with Winnie and we kept interrupting that (EVERY. SINGLE. TIME), he tried to mount her a few times, again we interrupted. I only had to give them a few breaks. They knew when to rest and take a break on their own! These three sure had a blast together

Mental Enrichment Idea #48 - EGGcellent! Next time you finish off your carton of eggs, keep it for some added canine enrichment for your fur baby. These cartons are a fun way to feed your dog his or her breakfast or dinner. Finlay was VERY interested this morning to get the egg carton open so he can eat his breakfast. For added enrichment, let them tear it apart afterward! (as long as they dont ingest it!)
