UPDATE Our #NaacoLove family have humbled us with their OUTPOURING of love, positive energy & donations since learning of Stephanie’s diagnosis. This has allowed her to continue with alternative therapies in addition to chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, etc. Her quality of life is good, she hasn’t lost her trademark smile & laugh, and continues to wake up every morning with hope. Metastatic Breast Cancer is much like riding a rollercoaster, it’s up and down, and livin...g day to day takes on a whole new meaning. Steph has showed great response to some of her earlier treatments with manageable low points. The goal over the past few months was essentially to get her liver (crucial for processing IV Chemo) to a point where she could handle a much more intensive chemotherapy protocol. Today was supposed to be that day - after her and I enjoyed some much needed R&R in #Havana - unfortunately, some yellow flags are hindering chemo love. We spent 5 hours this morning at Tom Baker, with some more tests and investigations happening over the next 48 hours. Doc said we have some options, but without an accurate explanation behind the wonky bloodwork, is airing on the side of cautious optimism. It is a strange feeling WANTING to have treatment - but the time will come (hopefully soon) where Steph will get back on track. With that - we’re holding it together, keeping positive, and doing the best job 2, 30-somethings can do (+ 1, 11-year old cat). On Tuesday will mark my 2 year wedding anniversary to my beautiful, resilient wife Stephanie Shields. Not going to lie, it hasn't been rainbows and gumdrops, si...nce her cancer diagnosis came 2 weeks before.
