Eat This Town

In case you didn’t know, I LOVE Dominion City Brewing Co. Sunsplit IPA Super juicy, and balanced with the perfect amount of hops, it’s the best beer for a sunny day in Ottawa! Big bonus points for their paper 6-pack ring too. Would love to see these become the standard for local breweries!

Last week we got our first meal from The Red Apron and their Dinner to your Door menu, and it was a HUGE hit! This particular day's food was vegetarian - chickpea fritters w tomato coconut curry sauce, roasted butternut squash with peas, onions and mustard seeds, and roasted broccoli, cauliflower and red peppers. The flavours were great, and reheating was a snap!... We're within pick-up distance, but they deliver to most of the city (even out in the burbs!) for a fee. See more

Holiday dinners aren't exactly the most photogenic meals, but the Easter dinner that we got from JAX tasted amazing nonetheless! The standout item for me was the sweet potato stuffing, which was firmer than regular mashed sweet potato, and had a great smoky flavour from the bacon Capped off the meal with a slice of carrot cake.... PS. If we just ended this charade and removed the carrots from carrot cake, would anyone notice/care? See more

Last week we got another awesome meal from The Red Apron! Tofu green curry with rice noodles and stir fried broccoli, peppers, zucchini and cabbage. Plus a bunch of other veg! The green curry was bright and flavourful, and the meal was filling without being heavy. Definitely like the variety of meals that Red Apron does, especially since a lot of typical takeout/delivery isn't quite so healthy

It had been too long since our last meal from Last Train to Delhi, so their Date Night deal was the perfect reminder to order some of their delicious food! The deal can vary, but when we ordered it was assorted pakoras, two mains, saffron rice and roti for just $50! We couldn't resist adding on their buttery parantha, and a slice of coconut lime tart for dessert. As always, the LTtD crew knocked it out of the park with big, but well-balanced flavours.... The Sweet MTL poutine from The Great Canadian Poutinerie - Bank has a certain Jackson Pollack vibe to it, and it's definitely ugly delicious! It's got big flavour from the pickles, mustard and Montreal smoked meat, all piled atop fries and cheese curds The "Great" size was a hearty meal for two to share.
