TOMATOES We have long understood tomatoes, as a superfood flies under the radar! Tomatoes are a cancer-fighting superfood! ... They have a high lycopene content (an antioxidant phytochemical that helps prevent heart disease) along with vitamins A, C, & E. There are also SO many ways to integrate tomatoes into your diet, both fresh and cooked. Fresh is better always, especially if you can eat off the vine! Cherry tomatoes fresh from the vine are like candy! Such a treat! They are even delicious drizzled with a little bit of olive oil and salt and pepper. We use a lot of: Lemons I the bright color of lemons in my kitchen! Lemons are super nutritious and adapts to so many uses! ... They're low in calories but very high in flavour. Most impressively, juicing 1 lemon will provide you with 50% of your daily vitamin C needs! Infusing your water with the juice of a lemon, supports your liver in the cleaning of blood that travels through it! Between liver detox and the vitamin support a healthy immune system. That is why many of us drink things like lemon tea when we're sick. Last but not least, they're good for our skin and increase iron absorption. I love using lemon in salad dressings, marinades and juices! Are a everyday item at our house! It's absolutely delicious to squeeze a lemon into a glass of water enjoy that!
This is a good food we eat on Phase 2 of this lifestyle! But is has so much goodness! avocados! Avocados are an absolute nutrient powerhouse, as many of you probably already know. They are rich in omega 3s, folic acid, magnesium, potassium, lutein & fiber, not to mention tons of vitamins & minerals. ... That pretty much sums it up eh! Because of their (good) greasy qualities, many people use avocados as substitutes for butter and other fats. They're even often used in clean beauty products because of their nourishing qualities for face & hair. One of my favourite things about avocados is how easy they are to add to almost everything: soups,sauces, salads & more. They can even be used in some desserts! I’ve made great chocolates with them! This is a young man who 9 months ago was verging on a medical crisis related to globesity. A place he is not returning to! At that time, he was 418 lbs. Weight that came on over years. He has his challenges, maybe someday he will tell his story.... Now 52 pounds less, he can wear a belt and jeans! He's determined to wear them without that tummy. Jonathan 's mentor recommended wild salmon. He needed more potassium But it's also a superfood There's a reason that salmon is known as a BRAIN food. DHA, an omega-3 fat found in salmon, has been linked to improved cognitive function, especially in adults! ... It's also full of other omega-3 fatty acids and is a great source of protein. Salmon is a great choice to cook all year around. It can be BBQ, baked, and broiled. It's so flexible. It can be a full meal, but also added to salads, pastas, and more! Be sure to buy wild vs farmed salmon. Is salmon a regular part of your diet?
The 5 "Ps" Proper Planning Prevents Poor performance... Taking the opportunity to make Chicken or a turkey broth and meat stock is great planning. Freeze individual meals to have ready for a simple, no prep meal. Kale is wonderful in it, but you can add any low glycemic, cruciferous veggies!
