Electrical Contractors' Association of Ottawa 25.11.2020

The ECA Ottawa staff will be returning to the office as of Monday, June 1st. Meeting with staff members will be by appointment only. Please ensure that you call in advance to confirm your meeting date and time. At this point in time, drop-ins will not be allowed access, as Covid-19 protocols are being strictly enforced. Entrance to the building will require a self survey, sanitizer and mask (provided by ECA Ottawa). All aptitude tests need to be scheduled in advance, while apprentices requiring new log books, interviews, and/or information must call the office and confirm an appointment.

New Online Stabilization Fund Goes Live This Week The IBEW will launch it's brand new "Online Stabilization Fund Program" which will be fully launched June 1, 2020. You will receive an email from the IBEW with a link to the site, www.ibew586stab.com, with instructions on how to login. This early startup will allow you to access the system, login and get comfortable with the software.

ONTARIO OPENS ALL CONSTRUCTION TUESDAY MAY 19 The Ontario government announced today that, as part of the first stage of the governments reopening framework, effective Tuesday, May 19th ALL construction is allowed to reopen. Contractors should open up only if they are ready and to utilize the provincial guides that have been developed. The Ontario government is extending the Declaration of Emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. This additional time will ensure the province has the necessary tools and health care capacity to contain COVID-19, while gradually reopening businesses, services, and amenities safely. Passed during a special sitting of the Ontario Legislature today, the Declaration of Emergency has been extended until June 2, 2020. ECA Ottawa and the local electrical industry join together to donate $100,000 in support of a mental health urgent care clinic at The Royal ECA Ottawa and the local electrical membership generously donated $100,000 in support of The Royal Ottawa Hospitals urgent need to fund its C-Prompt Clinic. This clinic is a multi-disciplined mental health service providing much needed care as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. ECA Ottawa, ECA Ontario, three member electrical contractors ...(Ziebarth Electrical, Wired Synergy and Toban Electric) along with Local 586 partnered to fulfill the urgent need for funding to keep this clinic going during this crisis. The generosity from the construction sector is nothing short of inspirational, says Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health president and CEO, Mitchell Bellman. With their support, our C-PROMPT will be able to help so many more people in our community who are struggling. In addition, PCL, EllisDon and 30+ other industry partners raised another $100,000 bringing the total donated to the Royal Ottawa Foundation to $200,000. ECA Ottawa President Stacy Anderson (Toban Electric) said, "It is thanks to the leadership of these organizations that allowed us to come together for such an important cause. The Royal Ottawa Hospital has been a beacon of strength and support to those with mental health issues for decades here in Ottawa.
