Dear brothers & sisters, Yesterday’s scenes on TV and social media of the events that took place in the United States, and the news in many other places of the world, remind us that though we have begun a new year the problems of humankind continue from one year into the next. The Psalms help us to take an honest look at the world. But they also help us to look beyond these problems to the Lord. There is hope. Great hope. God in all of His glory is here and He is not silent. ...The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. (Psalm 19:1-4) God speaks through His creation. God has not abandoned us to our sin. He has spoken, is speaking and will continue to speak to a world in need of Him. The Psalmist encourages us to not lose hope, but instead to lift up our eyes unto the Lord, reminding us that God is not silent. Psalm 19 ends with these words, May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Our response to God in the midst of this messy world is to live our lives for Him while recognizing who He is and what He has done for us. The Lord is an unmoving, strong, safe Rock in a world often characterized by chaotic, raging waves that crash onto the shoreline. He is able to save, to redeem us from our sins. He is Redeemer who saves all who choose to place their trust in Him. Join us tomorrow evening, Friday from 8:00 9:00 PM as we gather together before the One who delights to hear, and is more than able to answer, our prayers. Dear brothers & sisters, During this time of the pandemic, it can be easy to become discouraged and disheartened. The recent good news of two new vaccines is tempered by the sobering truth that it may take another year before everyone is immunized. And Thursday’s announcement by Dr. Bonnie Henry about more restrictions in B.C. , including temporarily restricting in person worship Services, remind us that we still have a long way to go before this pandemic is over. ... But Jesus promises to walk this journey with us. Jesus used many illustrations to help people understand spiritual truths. One of those illustrations was a fruitful grapevine. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) Jesus calls us to be firmly attached to Him, to be in Him. And He promises in return that we will live fruitful lives. As we journey in Jesus we also have the opportunity to become a blessing to others. Dr Tan shares an interesting story of the effect sowing seeds of God’s compassion can have on the lives of others. Interestingly, even though we’re able to count the seeds in a single fruit, we cannot count the fruit that can come from a single seed. That seed may be kindness, a phone call, a word of encouragement that helps someone else get through this time. Join us this Friday night at 8:00PM as we bring our prayers to the One who continually intercedes on our behalf. Please click on this link to join us: https://zoom.us/j/96616492119 I think you’ll very much appreciate Dr. Tan’s story.
