Recent photos of ice damage on Wabamun lake, not as bad as 2018 as of yet, but definitely more expansive in the range of damage. We are gearing up to meet the spring demand and help these people out.

Photo's of some winter projects this year. Sometimes Shoreline restorations must be installed in the winter, on ice. Usually this is due to access issues to the shoreline and or reducing lawn damage. The added benefit is you do not have to endure the work in the middle of the summer season. Permits for summer commence July 1. You always need to be careful operating on ice, we used tracked loaders and dump trucks with low ground pressure for these projects.

We were recently approached by a local county to find a solution for erosion issues on one of the many temporary lake accesses. These locations are generally in lake side communities and opened up for seasonal launching and recovery of boats, so they see a high level of use over a short period of time. We sourced an innovative concrete matting product that provided a solid structure under either a gravel or grass. This product is a great choice for those utilizing their properties to install and remove lake accessories. It is also used to stabilize holding ponds and may have shoreline applications as well

Photos of a recent shoreline restoration on an area lake. Recent flooding consumed 40 feet of this clients frontage in 1.5 feet of water, in 2 days. We installed containment and did an incremental infill to squeeze the water out, reclaim the property and raise the elevations. The final build we incorporated the existing vegetation for a text book finish

A recent Rosetta Outcropping wall installed on an acreage in parkland county. The client needed to stabilize the steep bank under his deck from erosion. and this was the product of choice. The wall looks great and offers enormous strength and stability.

These clients in Spruce Grove were looking to replace an old tired shrub bed. We installed a Rosetta wall system with boulders to finish it off. Lot's of compliments from the neighborhood and very pleased clients.

Photo's of a recent shoreline restoration on Wabamun lake. We did a large infill on this property in the fall of 2019 to raise the elevations due to rising water levels. We returned once permits were in place and completed the project including full landscaping. We brought the elevations up 12'' and produced a cove shield wall on the shoreline.

Before and after pictures of a farm in Parkland County. Our client needed a full scale make over to beautify the property and reduce maintenance. A front feature area was desired as well as something to compliment the living pond. The entire home was bordered and edged. The front feature area was constructed entirely from items found on the farm including the original family wagon. The walk out was terraced using Rosetta outcropping. The deck, pergolas, and garden boxes were used to create a beautiful sitting area by the pond.

In current times many are investing in there own space in place of others. Retaining walls come in many forms, we have installed them all. The newest product is Rosetta Outcropping. It offers an engineered system with a large foot print for outstanding long term stability and it looks fantastic. Project Photo's are from some prior installations

This is relevant to many of the area lakes and residents, very much the same issues.

Photos of some recent shoreline restorations on Isle and Wabamun lake. The water levels on the area lakes rose to 20 year highs with the summer rains and some are a meter higher than average, this has created a lot of erosion issues for property owners.

Before and after photos of a recent project. This client had an old crumbling deck and walkway. The deck was lacking a beam and on the verge of collapse as was the walkway of 20 years. With the help of a top notch carpenter, Savage Renovations, we were able to not only salvage the deck structure, but clean up the entire rear of the property. looks great and came in on budget to the benefit of the young couple that contracted us.

Shoreline Restoration. We have completed numerous shoreline reconstruction projects in northern Alberta. These projects are always under permit with Alberta Environment. These projects have ranged from simple erosion control to large scale infills, usually to recover decades of erosion. Recently many of these projects have been initiated due to sever ice damage.

Retaining walls.Back when we started most retaining walls were of wood construction and predominantly recycled railroad ties. Allen block and split and stack were the first manufactured products in the market and since then many new products have been introduced. Piza block offers the ability to create curves and terraces with ease. We recently began working with a big block product called rosetta . the big block systems are mechanically installed and offer a large stable footprint, they are also a beautiful feature.

Photo's of a recent shoreline restoration completed under permit to AEP guidelines and ready for plantings. This client waited for formal approval and followed the permit requirements to the letter. Looks great !

The first of many properties reconstructed from the winter Ice damage. We remediated three properties adjacent to each other and recovered almost 80% of the material and reset the rock sheild. At the same time we assisted an additional 9 properties with their shoreline remediation. Note when we started there was an ice pack 30 ft out.

We are scheduling projects for the spring season at an alarming rate and we anticipate a late spring is a reality. Many permits have been processed and many more are in cue. AEP is really working well with everyone. We have had numerous conversations with potential clients over the requirements for permits based on assumptions. Any shoreline work requires a measure of Departmental review, usually with simplified drawings and information. As a contractor we cannot help you unless we have either a permit copy or a AEP waiver. Fines have already been issued to some that thought otherwise. Take the time and ensure you have the appropriate approval .Then call us.

File photos of a recent site review on Wabamun Lake. The extreme cold snap we had drove the freeze and frost to depths not seen in decades. The resulting Ice Co...mpaction has damaged virtually every property we saw in sight, and numerous decks and cabins were off their foundations. Unbelievable the power of ice. See more

Sanding big time with the hail and rain !

Photo 's of our most recent project. A wood retaining wall system installed under permit in Dec. 2016. 32,000 lbs of heavy timbers, 400 lag bolts, 230 linear ft. We installed this below the water line in 4' trenches that left us challenged with timing and execution prior to the trenches filling with water, water always seeks it's own level. We designed and constructed 40' modules and installed them in sequence to completion. A great crew, great weather, and a great client all served to complete a unique project.

Photos of a fall shoreline restoration, typically performed in the fall as these proceedures do not impose on leisure time or spawning periods. Attractive finish to the wall one would say and all natural.

SOME NOSTALGIA ! These are photo's of the demolition and salvage we contracted of the STARDUST DRIVE INN on 50th in 1997. This was the last standing drive inn, in Edmonton. The screens were 80' x 140' constructed in fir. The gluelam beams were up to 68' long. The screen was hinged in the front for maintenance and I gambled it would come down like a sail. It Did ! Behind me as I watched a massive cheer was heard, every trade on site was standing and clapping, apparently t...here were a lot of bets riding the outcome. The Hutterites bought all the material and built two barns, the signs went to a local bar owner. 100% recycled Lesson learned we threw all the old speaker stands, 500+ in the metal bin...they are worth a collectable fortune today..Cheers Richard See more

Some photo's of our last project of 2015. We had to correct a poor installation from another contractor, amend elevation and drainage issues, and create a unique design that would permit the client to personalize the property in the spring with their own planting choices. On another note We have operated, grown and prospered through the tough economic downturns of the mid 90's and 2008. Many have been affected by recent events. but many more are not. Sometimes it is as simple as whether you see the darkness in the forest or the light through the trees. Support local business and buy Canadiain first. Cheers
