Why do we do fall cleaning? Because to resist the cold the plant needs to be in perfect health conditions. By eliminating diseased parts, we allow the plant to concentrate its energies and spend a better winter. This way it will sprout strongly during the spring.

In fall, the chlorophyll pigment responsible for the green colour of the leaves is absorbed by the plant, which uses it as a reserve. Consequently, other pigments arise such as carotene (orange), anthocyanin (red) or xanthophyll (yellow). When this happens, the tree realizes winter is coming by throwing all the leaves, which fall like blankets on the garden floor.
