NORAD TRACKS SANTA: The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is tracking Santa Claus' journey across the world as he delivers gifts to children with... live satellite imaging. NORAD says satellites are able to locate the jolly old elf each year by using an 'infrared sensor to detect heat signatures from Rudolph’s nose.' NORAD is a joint organization of the U.S. and Canadian military that was established during the Cold War to identify airborne attacks against North America. It has been been tracking Santa's sleigh each Christmas Eve since 1955. While the COVID-19 pandemic has curtailed many holiday traditions, it has not stopped St. Nick.
