The self-Care and Awareness campaign for our students emphasizes the importance of daily self-care, helps to develop coping strategies and tools, and helps to create harmony for inner wellbeing. Our students worked with Mr. Vince, our Spiritual and Community Animator, on this program which will be both virtual and classroom-based throughout the month of September. #ecolenesbittschool

Mindful Touch: Appreciate the Little Things 1. Take the time each day this week to notice the things you do or use on a daily basis. (I.e. brush your teeth, shower, eat, sleep, and breathe!). This is choosing a touch point cue, so choose one that resonates with you! 2. Now close your eyes and imagine the item or action. Holding this in your thoughts take a few long, deep breathsbreathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. ... 3. Ask yourself: What would my day be like without this action, tool, or item? For example, Each time you take a deep breath, stop and be mindful of how the air helps you survive, how you feel in that moment. Each time you touch water, stop and be mindful of its multiple uses, appreciating how the touch of water makes your face, mouth, throat and body feel without water one could not survive. Each time you raise your hand to eat or cook, be mindful of this action and appreciate the hands that enable you to do these essential day to day tasks. Each day this week, aim to be thankful for something! Cultivating purposeful awareness of what we have, and the blessings the little things bring to your life! Gratitude in our attitude. @englishmtl #weareenglishmtl #emsbsca

Try something new to stay active at home while practicing social distancing.
You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." Jane Goodall There are many activities you can do to mark this special day. For example, you can build an insect hotel or a terrarium or go for a nature walk while social distancing of course. Whatever you choose to do, have a Happy Earth Day!
To my beautiful Nesbitt community- please share with me how you are spreading kindness during this time ([email protected]). Remember you are loved, you are in our thoughts, and especially in our hearts! Cannot wait to see you again! Hugs, Ms. Alessia

Nature helps ground us, makes us feel happy and connected to the world around us. How many times do we look up from our phones, computers, or electronics to enjoy those around us and the natural wonders of our environment? Today, take a minute to enjoy nature. If you can, find a spot outside; on your balcony, in your yard, or on the front steps. If you prefer, find a cozy spot inside near a window. You can invite a family member to join you. Now that you are cozy and settled ...in, take a minute to focus on your breath. Do not change it, just breathe normally. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Now, take three long, deep, nourishing breaths. Feel them enter your body. Focus on one object you see, it could be a tree, a plant, a bird, or clouds Focus on that object and feel your breath go in and out. Now close your eyes, keep breathing, what do you hear? Birds singing, a dog barking in the distance? What do you feel? The winds breeze, the suns warmth on your check? Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Now open your eyes once again, You feel calm and relaxed. Enjoy being outdoors for a little longer. To keep enjoying the outdoors try setting a few goals for yourself. For example Today, I will read a book outside", "Today I will go for a walk", or "Today I will sit and listen to the birds singing. Stay calm and connected to nature.
