SEW exciting! Kile & Kale finished their bags today in sewing class!
To celebrate St Joseph’s day Grade 3/4 students made picture frames, with pictures of St Joseph and baby Jesus. They attached a prayer to St Joseph at the back, and were proud to take their crafts home to hang in their rooms.
Some more great learning on St.Joseph today!
Father stopped by all the classes to talk to them about St. Joseph. We love our visits from Father!

Dear Parents and Guardians, As many of you are already aware, Premier Jason Kenney announced yesterday that K-12 students will return to school in person on Monday January 11th. While we are looking forward to welcoming students back to school, we want to remind our school communities to remain committed to following public health guidelines from Alberta Health Services: - We remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Q...uestionnaire. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811. - If your child is sick, they must stay home. We encourage parents to review the Top 5 Symptoms Flowchart and Secondary Symptoms Flowchart provided by Alberta Health Services that will provide guidance about what to do when your child has symptoms or is a close contact to a positive case. If your child is isolating at home, their teacher will provide assignments that can be completed at home. - If your child is a close contact of a positive case, they cannot go to school for 14 days after their last close contact with the positive case. We recommend reviewing the guidance in the Close Contact Flowchart, having your child tested and following all isolation requirements from Alberta Health Services. Students who are isolating will receive assignments from their teacher that can be completed at home. - Lastly, a friendly reminder to please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for winter conditions. We thank you for your continued commitment to keeping our school communities safe. We are grateful to all families for their patience and cooperation throughout the ever-evolving COVID environment. This school year has been different for all of us, and I am proud of the resilience shown by our students and staff. Yours in Christ, Betty Turpin Superintendent https://hfcrd.ab.ca//students-return-to-school-in-person-/
We are excited to welcome students back to school in person on Monday January 11th! Please be advised that water will be shut off in all of the Town of McLennan on Monday at 2:00pm therefore we will be dismissing students early and closing the school. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are thrilled to see our students again!
If your child is a recent close contact of a positive case, please don't send them to school. Instead, please follow the public health guidelines from Alberta Health Services outlined below. Thank you for doing your part to keep our school community safe!
Need a refresh on what to do when your child is sick? Read the message from our division and take a screenshot of the helpful flowcharts from Alberta Health Services! Thank you for your continued commitment to keep our school community healthy and safe!
On Friday, October 30th we will be celebrating Halloween at the school. In the morning, we will be having an online, virtual school wide classroom parade of costumes. In the afternoon, classrooms will be having their own class parties. Please do not send your child with treats for the entire class, as we are unable to share treats this year. Have a SPOOKTACULAR week!

Wacky Hair Day on Wednesday, October 21st! The point of this festivity is to let kids (and their parents) express their wild side a bit. On Wacky Hair Day, kids are encouraged to come in with the wackiest and most creative hair design that they can imagine - hair gel, unique hair colors, and even toys incorporated in the kids' hairstyles are all fair game!
A super fun google meet was held by some of our leadership students with the grade 1/2's. They all loved it so much! The google meet was a perfect way for them all to interact and learn without spreading germs:)
A huge Congratulations to Percy Bowser who was elected as the President of the Smoky River Youth Council, a program coordinated by the Smoky River Family and Community Support Services. The youth council is a council made of youths from our community who want to be a force for positive change. They will work to improve our region through volunteerism, events, and conversations with local government. They will be learning how a board runs while they create new ideas and initiatives for the community. Ecole Providence School is super excited for Percy as he takes on this exciting role. Way to go Percy!
Yay, we love having you Ms. Skinner!!!
Our next School Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at 5:00 pm in the School Common Area. To attend, you will need to wear a mask and you will be asked to complete a health checklist when you arrive. Role of parents: Parents play an important role in student success. School councils allow parents to participate in decisions that impact student learning.
