Lots of people on here articulating better than I about delaying spring cleanups and or not cutting things back in fall. I think the biodiversity argument is important, however, it's a lot easier to make if people appreciated that there is beauty and enjoyment to be had even in death and decay. So put your instagram beauty goggles on and behold the fine lines and bold shapes of solidago ptarmicoides! . . . #toronto #garden #beauty #spring #horticulture
After a long silence, I'm back to public speaking (virtually of course.) Tonight, I'm talking to the OALA about naturalistic planting design. Kind of cool becau...se my dear late mother always wanted me to be a Landscape Architect. Somehow this is maybe even better because I forged my own path to reach the same place. If yr interested to register and hear it for free tonight: https://www.oala.ca//lao-webinar-on-explorations-in-natur/ (Photo: Silphium mohrii in my oval beds at the cabin.)
When a seed strategy ramps up production it's great news for the birds and the bees and great news for people too. This kind of work needs to be recognized for what it is: front line climate work!
