Why should we install only insulated ducts in the attic? Here is the story. We are doing a job in DDO. ... The bathroom ceiling was a bit wet. Homeowner was under impression, the roof has a leak somewhere. I went up for a quick visual inspection, expecting an active leak. But rather noticed an un-insulated duct going horizontally then venting out onto soffits. I went closer and lifted up the duct and it was very heavy. It was full of water - in the video, you can hear the water being dumped out. Serious water damage could and will happen. After 2 weeks of open plywood surgery - precision demolition, fixing many screw ups of the previous person - we had the pleasure to close up the floor. In 8 feet length, there is a drop of 1/2" on the floor. So we applied primer on the plywood, prior to pour self-level cement. Since, we need to re-install floor radiant heater again. We will install Schluter underlayment first, pass the wire through it then we shall tile up!... We like to thank all of our clients for patiently waiting for us to start thier job. Happy chilli Wednesday! This is the outcome of a tiled shower base installation gone horribly wrong... Why ?... 1. Lack of knowledge / understanding of these kind of shower systems 2. Lack of installation of corner water proofing bands 3. Installation of a Schluter linear drain but only the pan and half of finishing box content 4. Installation of waterproof base but then securing it with nails, therefore puncturing and causing leak through 5. Installation of tiles on a flexible substrate, causing the grout line to fail and let water into a leaky waterproof base Conclusion? You could use the best material available but if you do not follow manufacturer's instructions for a proper install. You will SCREW UP! Happy Monday! We started a new job. Problems already started.... Laundry room door was installed after washer and dryer were brought to site. The door is so small, the machines can't be moved out. The homeowners were aware of the situation but had forgotten about it, since the job was done a while back. We will install a bigger door to allow machines to get in and out with no problem. How would anyone take the machine out to repair??? The floor tiles are barely adhered to the sub-floor. Missing caulking had caused water infiltration and eventually carpenter ant attack and sever rot. We had to take the whole base off, and try to restore it to orginal size and shape. We wanted to use the existing flashing, so we took off the finish at surgery precision, rebuilt the frame and shoot PolyUrethane to keep it nice and toasty inside....
