ECS Waterloo Student Chapter 25.04.2021

After our first insightful event of 2021 earlier today, we are proud to announce our upcoming event on Feb 25! We’ve all struggled to some extent with making expressive and neat figures for scientific papers or conferences. So we are proud to be joined by Felice Frankel in a virtual workshop just for that! Sounds interesting? Visit our website for more information (link in bio).... #electrochemistry #workshop #scientificillustration @electrochemsociety @cu_ecs @madrid.studentchapter.ecs @ut_austin_ecs_chapter @ecs_muenster @ecsmty @uofwaterloo @uwaterlooeng @waterloosci

Our first event of 2021, a virtual career fair is happening right now! Join us now so you can get the perspective of electrochemists working in industry! #electrochemistry #electrochemicalsociety @cu_ecs @madrid.studentchapter.ecs @ut_austin_ecs_chapter @ecs_muenster @ecs

ECS Waterloo Student Chapter 10.04.2021

We are excited to invite you to a virtual mini career fair event on Thursday January 28th from 2:00 to 4:30 pm (EST)! In this event, you will have the opportunity to virtually network and connect with 4 Canadian-based companies working in the field of electrochemistry. Given that the COVID-19 pandemic has introduced new challenges in the job search process and limited opportunities for networking, we hope that this event helps fresh graduates, graduate students nearing the en...d of their degree, postdoctoral fellows, and other researchers in their job search journey! The event requires registration at: https://lnkd.in/eGWVERw. The Zoom link to the event will be enclosed in the confirmation email upon registering Participant Companies: > Calogy Specialized in thermal management technologies for electric transport. > Gbatteries Specialized in AI-based technologies for ultra-fast charging of lithium-ion batteries. > Hydrogenics Specialized in hydrogen-based technologies and fuel cell systems. > Suez Specialized in water and waste management.

In a second collaboration with NSERC Create Me2, we are excited to announce our second event for July - a webinar delivered by Dr. Jeff Gostick on pore-scale modeling of battery and fuel cell performance. Dr. Gostick is an Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, at The University of Waterloo. Dr. Gostick leads the Porous Materials Engineering & Analysis Lab (PMEAL), and his group is the lead developer of OpenPNM and PoreSpy, two open-source software packages ...for studying porous materials at the pore-scale. This event is open to graduate students and preregistration is mandatory. Visit our website for more information (link in bio). We hope to see you on July 29 for this webinar! #uwaterloo #uwaterloograd #uwaterloosci

With the exponential rise in interest in artificial intelligence and their different applications, ever wonder how it could be applicable to electrochemistry research? Wonder no further! On July 22, Dr. Kristen Severson joins us to help enlighten us on this interesting topic! Dr. Severson earned her PhD at MIT where she worked on the applications of machine learning in problems pertaining to lithium ion batteries, production oil wells, and bioinformatics. Currently a post doc...toral researcher at IBM, her current focus is on applied machine learning in healthcare applications. Visit our website for registration and more info (link in bio). This event is open to everyone so feel free to share the event with your friends and fellow researchers! Mark your calendar for July 22 @ 10:30am EST! @electrochemsociety @uofwaterloo @ecsmty @cu_ecs @ut_austin_ecs_chapter @madrid.studentchapter.ecs #electrochemical #electrochemistry #ecs #watecs #uwaterloo #uwaterloograd #machinelearning #artificialintelligence #battery #energystorage

Great talk yesterday by Dr. Edward Roberts! A simple, yet very informative explanation of cell designs (including bipolar stacks and porous electrodes) in addition to interesting case studies of water treatment systems! We would like to thank NSERC Create Me2 for this opportunity and thank everyone who attended! We hope to see you again at our future events! #nserccreate @cu_ecs @ucalgary
