"Edelweiss" Take, dear Lady, take these flowers Children born of sun and showers.... Summer sun and winter snow Crushed the rock on which they grow; Strength of immemorial chalk Fed the fibers of their stalk; Lightning, hurricane and storm Shaped their pliancy of form, Gleam and gloom of varying sway Stained the petals ashen gray. Which, like loving hearts, enfold In their midst one spot of gold. Fearless head and steady foot Tracked the cradle of their root. Now a link in friendship's chain From the mountain to the main. Nurslings of the central sea, Such as late I gave to thee, Lull the senses, charm the eye, Bloom and whither, breathe and die. These, by sterner process made, Slow engendered, slowly fade. And they bring where'er they fare Just a whiff of Alpine air. Lady, take these simple flowers, Emblem meet of sun and showers. Oscar Browning, Davos-Platz, August 1886

EDELWEISS FLOWER EXTRACT from our high altitude plantation is made in July from fresh Edelweiss flowers, food grade vegetable glycerin and spring water. It contains NO preservatives and is mainly used as an active ingredient in the manufacture of high end skin care and hair care products. Use it in cremes, lotions, sun screens, shampoos and soaps. Add from 2% to 10% and up to 20% for serums.

These pages are all about the Edelweiss plant but there are a couple of other alpine flowers that Edelweiss lovers will surely enjoy. Blue Gentian and Alpenrose or Almrausch (Rhododendron hirsutum). Together with Edelweiss they make a delightful Alpentrio. The Gentiana aculis or stemless Gentian in the picture is one of my favorites, blooming in May. All Gentian is difficult to start from seeds and slow growing. This plant is 5 years old and goes to seed by the middle of Jun...e. In the future I may have Gentian available but Almrausch is difficult to find. You can order all our unique Edelweiss products from: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/EdelweissGrowers, www.edelweissgrowers.com and by phone 1 250 344 2056. See more
