Okay folks! You’ve been waiting and wondering. We’ve been trying to figure out if we could plan something different or endorse any event, but we have to call it. Out of an abundance of caution and with Dr. Bonnie’s advice in mind, the decision has been made to cancel this year’s Edgemont Village Halloween event. ... We know that the event takes place outside and on the sidewalk, but there is no doubt that this is a very well-attended day for our small community. The crowds of wee ghosts and goblins, superhero’s and villains (and everything in between) that come out with their caregivers in tow, is just simply too many people to be gathering safely, even outside. this was a difficult decision to make, and we are so sad that we won’t be able to be a part of this high energy community building afternoon. Our deep hope is that we can carry it forward next year. We at the Edgemont Village Business Association have hired a security guard to be in the Village during Halloween night, to make sure our businesses are kept safe. We are also asking local community members to be additional eyes and ears of the Village. We will be organizing a schedule of foot patrols, just to make sure there’s no funny business! Our Village is special, there’s no doubt...a little piece of paradise. But is it ever more gloriously picturesque than in Autumn? Every season brings beautiful sights but there’s something so achingly wistful about this time of year. Just at the peak of its beauty, when it seems the leaves are as vibrant as they could ever be, it indeed all blows away. This reminder about the changing nature of...well...nature, and the fleeting quality of beauty, is all around us right now, and all I want to do is walk and gawk and drink it all in.
