Our online training plan, videos, and group Zwift bike workouts will provide you with everything you need to stay strong this winter and keep the training fun by connecting virtually with other athletes. We have trained athletes to compete at the Age Group World Championships and seen countless members set personal bests. EDGE kids back in action. Adult sessions starting this week! Although things may look differently now with smaller group sessions and social distancing in place, we are pleased to announce that we are beginning to book private 1 on 1 and small group sessions (2-4 individuals) for both open water swimming and running workouts. If you are interested in booking a private/small group session or would like to learn more about online coaching please do not hesitate to reach out. Amidst these unique and challenging times we’re hopeful that a dose of friendly competition in the form of a virtual event will help to bring people together. This free event is open to everyone (Edge and non Edge members) and will consist of 6 stages (3 bikes and 3 runs) over a two week period. Participants will have 2 days to complete each stage on their own time and course. Event outline:... Our team is excited to announce the launch of EDGE Swimming. Beginning in September our programme will offer both competitive and recreational swimmers aged 8-17 the opportunity to work hard and reach for their goals in a supportive and inclusive environment. We will be holding an information session on August 12th from 7-8pm at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatic Centre to announce our coaching staff and provide more details on the inaugural 2019/2020 programme. Coaches Kyle Jones and Jeff Scull battling it out during a workout on the infamous Hydro Hill Hills are a staple year round in the Edge program whether they are long repeats or within intervals and tempo runs. As triathletes we have limited run volume compared to pure runners and therefore we need to focus on sessions that will give us the biggest return mentally and physically on our time. Mary Ann McKinley, Edge athlete and AG qualifier for the ITU World Champs in 2019, riding with a straight arm vs bent arm. Although the straight arm position is comfortable riding indoors, we want to train as we race - in the more aerodynamic bent arm position (lower head). Additionally the bent arm position reduces tension, absorbs bumps, lowers centre of gravity, and improves handling skills. This position will require more core strength to become less reliant on propping yourself up on the handlebars with a locked arm. Challenge yourself this winter to ride with a bent arm position and the transition to spring riding will be faster and smoother.
