On March 5, 2019, EndPovertyEdmonton is launching an education initiative for the upcoming election. The initiative presents Let’s Do This to the public, aski...ng people to go to the initiative website and send their provincial election candidates a letter expressing the need to address poverty in our province. The website is equipped to work across the province. It will be live on March 5 at letsdothisalberta.ca. On a weekly basis, after the launch, we will be producing content about the game changers (Livable Incomes, Affordable Housing, Accessible and Affordable Transit, Affordable Child Care, Access to Mental Health Services, Eliminate Racism) which includes video, Facebook live, blog posts, media releases, and more. They encourage sharing initiative content widely with your networks, through your mailing lists, and on your social media platforms (both personal and professional) during and after the launch on Tuesday, March 5.

Dr.Turner: Gail Haynes is the manager of housing services and peer supports for the Canadian Mental Health Association. The CMHA housing program provides safe, secure, affordable housing to individuals who live with mental illness or in poverty. Gail oversees the management of 146 units in seven properties and provides leadership to the CMHA staff. She’s chair of the Edmonton Coalition on Housing and Homelessness.
