"I had a conversation with a student from Ross Sheppard High School. She started out saying that she thought abortion wasn't good, and shouldn't really be common. I asked her what she thought about abortion in the circumstance of rape, and she said that she thought it should be allowed, though she did mention, as an aside, that adoption would also be an option. We talked for a while, during which we discussed the effects of abortion on women, whether or not it is alright to kill someone because of their suffering. At the end of our conversation, I asked her again whether she thought that there was anything at all that would justify the killing of an unborn baby, whether for convenience, possible suffering, or any other reason. Her answer to that was a "No."" John, EAA Volunteer #prolife #endthekilling

"I was speaking with a student named Daniel from Ross Sheppard High School. He came by our display during the lunch hour. He said that he knows biological life begins in the womb; however, not everyone values that life, which is okay. We discussed the implications of subjective morality. I asked him: why can't a person be valuable just as they are? How come a person can't be valuable unless someone else decides they are? I told him that all forms of discrimination begin when individuals attempt to define another's humanity and value for anything other than who they are as humans. He said "I never thought about it that way - that's a good point". He's a bright student, and I'm really glad we had that conversation! I certainly gave him a few things to think about. -Deirdre, EAA Volunteer Coordinator
