This Friday, September 11 will once again be holding our annual memorial ceremony for those members lost in the line of duty as well as those active and retired firefighters who have passed away in the last year. As in previous posts this year will be different, we will be recording our ceremony as we are trying to keep it to as few people as possible in order to maintain the safety of not only our members but also the public. Which means there will be no parade or familie...s attending. Keep watching our page as we will be providing a link ASAP after the ceremony has ended. Thank you all for your continued support and stay safe.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic the Edmonton Firefighters Memorial Society will be following the lead of the IAFF And will be changing the way we will be delivering this years ceremony. In order to comply with the health standards set and to be as safe as possible, will will not be holding a march and full ceremony as in years past. Therefore we will hold the ceremony with as few people as possible in the plaza and will be recording the ceremony making it available to view later in the day on Sept 11. We feel that this is the safest way to pay our respects to our fallen for this year. We will be providing a link to the ceremony as soon as one becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Edmonton Firefighters Memorial Society has decided to follow both the CAFF and the IAFF in altering the way our September 11 ceremony will be delivered this year. Details are still being worked out but in order to pay the proper respect to our members who have passed away both within the last year and in the line of duty in a way that follows the health and safety guidelines set out by the province and the city. We appreciate your patience as we strive to hold this event in the best way possible. We will keep you appraised once decisions have been made. Thank you, wash your hands and stay safe!
April 28, historically in Canada, is a National Day of Mourning... it is a day to remember those have lost their lives or suffered workplace illness/injury due to a tragic work-related incident... we thank and recognize all those frontline workers (and their families) who selflessly put themselves on the line each and every day to help their fellow citizens and their communities... your dedication and sacrifice do not go unnoticed
