With the Alberta government's early move toward Stage 2 of its relaunch plan, many of our fencing families will be wondering if EFC will be reopening in June. Indoor sports and recreation, such as fencing, were originally not slated to reopen until Stage 3 (likely September), so the club took the opportunity to start some much-needed renovations, beginning with adding a new furnace and ventilation system that will help with air flow in the gym (we know how hard our fencers w...ork in there!). That work is expected to be completed some time in July, then the Board of Directors will evaluate what further renovations need to be done, and set a date to reopen. In the meantime, EFC is working closely with the Alberta Fencing Association, our governing body, to develop a return to play protocol in accordance with Alberta Health and Canadian Fencing Federation guidelines that will keep fencers, staff, and families safe as we move forward.
