Good day, It was previously announced that we would re-schedule our Thursday class to today, Saturday. However, as the majority of our members are currently stating their unavailability to attend a session this evening, we will be cancelling. Our next class will therefore be our regularly scheduled Thursday session for next week. Hope to see people out then!

A quick photo from last class. The "spears" aren't there to be a spear or simulate one in any way. Instead, the poles are to provide something to strike and work against while allowing fencers to keep their distance. If you look close enough you can also see a pell that was demolished early in the class. The porta-pell will be back and stronger than ever!

Some very light drilling from last week's class and an excellent way to practice your range.

So with our return to operations one of the things we've been working on is a new website! You can find our policy manual and return to operations documentation at https://www.ehma.ca/!

It's a terrible picture but here's a big thank you to everyone who came out for some practice at a safe distance!

Edmonton Historical Martial Arts 03.02.2020

Everyone, as announced last week we will be practicing tomorrow between 7pm and 9pm. There are some important details you need to read below if you are attending: 1. This class is free. Bring nothing but your presence we've all sorely missed. 2. If you intend to come to class we need you to PM us or contact a Board Member. There are additional controls in place to ensure people's safety and we need to ensure we have enough equipment for everyone as no equipment will be shared.... There is also a Return to operations document we would like everyone to read beforehand that will be shared at that time. 3. We will be practicing at Hawrelak Park. On this post you will find an image of the park with two highlighted areas. You'll need to come into the park and drive the entire loop until you reach the southern-most picnic area and parking lot. We'll be practicing in the big open area to the north of that parking lot (just look for the people in orange with swords). If for whatever reason you get lost just PM us as we'll have our phones. 4. We will be outside (obviously). This means you'll need to dress for the weather and bring shoes with good grip. You'll also need to bring your own supply of water and food as sharing will not be permitted and there are no water fountains nearby. Finally, we will be providing the bug repellent to prevent everyone from being eaten alive. 5. Do not attend if you have a runny nose, cough, headache, abnormal sneezing, chills, loss of taste, fever or any other symptom of Covid-19 or if you have traveled out of province any time in the last two weeks. Members showing symptoms or having traveled as such will not be permitted to participate in any capacity.

Edmonton Historical Martial Arts 18.01.2020

Hey everyone, we've been quiet over the last week but it hasn't been without reason! Starting next Thursday (June 18th) we will be resuming classes! Keep reading for details you're going to need. There will be some changes to the structure of class and location. To start, we will be meeting in Hawrelak park instead of our usual location. This will allow us to limit the risks associated with covid-19 transmission while also letting us enjoy the summer. Second, we will not hav...e a free sparring portion at the end of class. Although the phase 2 guidelines allow for full contact sparring we want to take things slower at the start to ensure the safety of our members. These are only barebones details so that people have time to plan. We're still reviewing the phase 2 guidelines and updating our policies and forms for relaunch because there's loads of stuff to get in place (equipment cleaning, safe drills, new waivers, etc.). We also need to determine where exactly in the park we're meeting. These finer details will be revealed early next week and we can guarantee to all our members that we will be going above and beyond the phase 2 guide to ensure everyone's safety. If you are interesting in coming out please sound off in the comments below or PM so we know how many people to expect.
