WHY YOU NEED TO BUY NOW! CMHC announced today new mortgage qualification rules will come into effect July 01, 2020 They are raising the credit score requirements from a score of 600 to 680.... They are going to reduced the TDS (total debt service) from 44% to 42%. So your debt payments including the mortgage payments will not be able to exceed 42% They are reducing the GDS (gross debt service) from 39% to 35%. So your mortgage payments will not be able to exceed 35%. Also now you will not longer be able to used borrowed money for downpayment. They stopped short of what they were suggesting to the House of Commons Finance committee which was to increase minimum downpayment requirement from 5% to 10%... at least for now. Don't be surprised that if the economy and house valuations don't improve that they won't bring this back to the table.
