Check out this #operabreaks video featuring soprano Caitlin Wood (having starred in EO's recent productions of The Marriage of Figaro and Count Ory) and tenor Asitha Tennekoon (previous participant of EO's Understudy Program). We look forward to the day when we can welcome them back to the Jube stage for our new production of Mozart's Così fan tutte!

An important update on our upcoming season: Dear friends, We hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well. Today we have an important update to share with you regarding our upcoming season... In June, we announced plans to delay the opening of our season to January 2021. At the time, we were optimistic that we would be able to gather together, perhaps in smaller numbers, and experience this beautiful artform. Reopenings in the world of sports and our opera colleagues in Europe provided us with hope that we could safely resume operations. Putting on an opera requires the collaboration of about two hundred artists, crew, staff and volunteers, and we require about four months lead time to scale up and prepare a production. At this time, and with rising COVID-19 cases in Edmonton, we have made the difficult decision to further postpone our reopening to October 2021. Your health and safety and that of our artists, staff and other audience members is our priority. We are committed to presenting the same exciting operas that we previously announced, and our team is already hard at work painting stunning scenery for a new Così fan tutte and building a new set of period costumes for the beloved characters of Puccini’s La Bohème. We can’t wait to share our work and see you all again at the Jubilee. UPDATED PERFORMANCE DATES Mozart's Così fan tutte: October 23, 26 & 29, 2021 Puccini's La Bohème: February 5, 8 & 11, 2022 Donizetti's Anne Boleyn (Anna Bolena): March 19, 22 & 25, 2022 On behalf of everyone at Edmonton Opera, we’d like to thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we continue to navigate this unpreceded crisis. We promise to keep you up-to-date as we near reopening. In the coming months, we have plenty of exciting free digital programming to announce so be sure to stay tuned to our website, social media and newsletters. People are turning to the arts for inspiration and connection now more than ever. We promise to be there for you and our community during this challenging time, and look forward to the day when we can gather again to share this beautiful artform. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at 780.429.1000 (MondayFriday, 9am5pm) or via the comments below. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
If you're an Edmonton theatre artist, please consider taking part in this survey exploring fair access and inclusion in our local theatre community. The survey closes October 29, and special thanks to everyone who has already taken the time to share their perspective!
On September 19, Edmonton Opera offered free drive-in concerts to celebrate Alberta Culture Days! With over 800 entries, only 70 lucky vehicles were able to attend each performance but now you're able to experience the concert live from the comfort of your own home (or car)! Our final episode features an aria from Gounod's Faust and a jaunty drinking song by Verdi, performed by Cara Lianne McLeod, Robert Clark, Tenor, and pianist Leanne Regehr. Thank you so much for tuning ...in this month to our Drive-in Opera series! Today marks Orange Shirt Day which recognizes the painful legacy of residential schools.
