Age is a gift to a city allowing us to connect with the generations before, to learn the stories that brought us here. So today, on International Day of Older Persons, we want to share a video encapsulating ‘The Gift of Age’, a pillar of the Edmonton Seniors Declaration.
We are excited to share that the City of Edmonton has proclaimed October 1st International Day of Older Persons! This date was originally marked 75 years ago by the United Nations and started being recognized internationally 30 years ago. Older adults are important threads in the fabric of our community and together we can build and sustain a neighbourly city where we work to support older adults.

In any given year, 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health problem or illness. Speaking up when suicidal isn't "attention seeking". Experiencing mental illness doesn't make you "weak". Older adults are especially at risk of isolation. Remember to take some time to check in on those around you--your compassionate ear could save a life!
Today is the last day to register for online fall programs at SEESA! https://www.seesa.ca/programs.html Make sure to register by midnight to avoid disappointment. Some great recreation options, including yoga, painting, ukulele and more.
