FLASHING GREEN LIGHTS Some new signage has gone up to remind motorists that flashing green lights are being used by firefighters in the Town of Edson. Green lights are used by our volunteer firefighters responding to the firehall during an emergency. ... The purpose of the lights are to enhance public safety and awareness by identifying Edson Firefighters who are in the process of responding to the hall. The lights do not give any special privileges or powers to those responding volunteers, but gives other motorists and pedestrians notice that there is an emergency taking place and to yield if it is safe to do so. Please watch for our responders utilizing these new lights and keep our roads safe for all users. For a copy of the Flashing Green light Bylaw, visit www.edson.ca/bylaws.

The Edson Fire Department is working with Town of Edson crews to help identify and remove hazard trees along Edson’s trail system. You may notice some increased activity on the trails starting today as crews are out with ATV’s to mark trees for removal. The trails remain open, but we ask that you proceed with caution where crews are working.

The Edson Fire Department is very grateful for our latest donation from another great community partner. Tourmaline Oil Corp. has donated two defibrillators to the department to be used in our Medical First Responder program. With a financial value at over $4200, this equipment is now in service in the Duty Officer/Command Truck, as well as Unit 610 (Rapid Rescue). These units are the first responding units to all medical calls for assistance. Thanks to the Edson Fire Department, we had a special visitor from the North Pole come by the school this morning! Everyone (big and small) was so excited to see Santa.

We’ve been a bit slow in posting things recently. It’s been a busy couple of months! Here’s a few shots from Tuesday’s hall cleaning/equipment maintenance evening. Have a great, and safe, weekend!

This picture is from last year, but we’ve got a similar haul of goodies for all the ghosts and goblins out there this year! EFD will have trucks out starting at 5pm and will be following COVID-19 guidelines. While we usually love taking pictures and interacting with the little ones, this year we’ll have to keep our distance. Members will be masked and gloved up and we’ve secured some candy chutes that will allow us to deliver candy from the trucks Have a safe and happy Halloween!
