CLERK III, PERMANENT PART-TIME SCOPE OF OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: TO PERFORM DAILY DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH FRONT DESK; TO PROVIDE POSITIVE AND FRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC; TO WORK COOPERATIVELY WITH STAFF; TO ASSIST IN PROVIDING A SAFE, RESPECTFUL... ENVIRONMENT. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet patrons in a friendly professional manner. Assist with patron concerns and questions. Answer telephone inquiries. Provide internet or program services to patrons as required. Assist patrons to find and use library resources and provide technical assistance. Process library materials and memberships. Maintain patron database. Maintain and troubleshoot problems with library equipment including photocopiers. Facilitate inter-library loans for patrons. Package, ship, and process requested materials. Collect and balance daily cash. Assist with receiving and processing new library materials. Check for damaged library materials, such as books, and repairs as needed. Assist with other programs occurring in the library. Assist in booking other rooms and taking registrations. Perform any clerical duties as required. Any other duties as required by the Librarian. QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of Grade 12. Previous library or office work experience an asset. Competent with Microsoft Office and the Internet. Patience and a strong customer service orientation. Organized and detail oriented. Flexibility and resourcefulness. Possess excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a team player. First aid training an asset. The Library is a CUPE organized workplace. The 2021 wage grid for this position a) probation: $20.88 per hour and b) after 4 months, level 1: $21.76 per hour. This is a part-time permanent position that requires evenings and at least 2 weekends per month.
