Community Garden 2021 season update: Due to some ongoing challenges with theft and vandalism at the community garden and alongside the increased challenges of Covid-19 it was decided this year we will not be renting plots at the community garden. Instead we are choosing to take this year to do much needed maintenance work and looking to rebuild the soil quality and weed control. Thank you for your interest and please check back in 2022 to inquire about a plot then.

This week, Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) released a discussion paper on advancing extended producer responsibility (EPR) policy in our province. EPR is an environmental / economic policy approach in which producers of products and packaging bear responsibility for ensuring those products and packages are properly managed at the end of their life-cycle. Assigning this responsibility to the producers could in principle provide incentives to prevent wastes at the source, promote product design for the environment and support the achievement of public recycling and materials management goals. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and helped make our covid friendly Seniors and Community Appreciation Christmas event such a success! We hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas goodies, and we would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season!

We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Weyerhaeuser for their donation of sheet material for the ShelterPod pilot project. This project will be built at the depot and is intended to be an emergency shelter pilot project.
