Welcome back friends! BCAFM COVID-19 Update: Vendors May Sell Non-Food Items At Farmers Markets March 19, 2021... Dear BCAFM Market and Vendor Members, It is our pleasure to inform you that under the updated Gathering and Events Order (as of March 18, 2021) our Non-Food Vendors can now return to farmers' markets! Please see the information below for the difference between indoor and outdoor market regulations. The Provincial Health Officer under the Public Health Act have updated their Gathering and Events Order (found here) to include the following NEW wording: Under Section N EPISODIC MARKETS: FOR INDOOR MARKETS: 5. A manager of an indoor episodic market must g. provide facilities with running water, soap and paper towels for hand washing and drying purposes or provide hand sanitation supplies; (Note that this no longer states "washroom" facilities) m. not permit a product other than food for human consumption, flowers, plants, seed and compost to be sold; n. not permit a service to be sold. FOR OUTDOOR MARKETS: 6. The manager of an outdoor episodic market must c. provide facilities with running water, soap and paper towels for hand washing and drying purposes or provide hand sanitation supplies; (Note that this no longer states "washroom" facilities) 9. A vendor at an outdoor episodic market may sell products in addition to food for human consumption. Please also note that the following information has also been updated: FOR INDOOR MARKETS: 5 c. arrange the placement of vendors booths two metres apart and in such a way as to facilitate the movement of patrons in one direction; FOR OUTDOOR MARKETS: 6a. arrange the placement of vendors booths two metres apart and in such a way as to facilitate the movement of patrons in one direction; Please also note that sampling is still currently not permitted under the updated order however we will continue to advocate the needs of our members as we move forward with this updated order. As of this time the BCCDC website has NOT been updated to reflect the new wording.
