This is an interesting article, but I don't believe it's fair to compare one-time capital expenses such as renovations to a need to reduce ongoing operating expenses. Would $1 million have saved Three Bridges? No. Three Bridges is a tiny school where on top of the fiscal challenge of funding it at the cost of other programs and schools, you start to have the logistical challenges. For one, we don't triple-grade classes in southern Ontario. The same million would have paid for a year's worth of the busing expenses mentioned here (and let's face it, WR is lagging when it comes to joint-busing and staggered bell times-- something that's been done and hasn't turned the world upside down in other districts).
