We get excited when clients want their love of the outdoors to shine throughout their home Our Eagle’s Nest’s exterior living spaces act as extensions of it’s interior for practical places to enjoy the weather! Added bonus - great hiding spots for the Easter Bunny’s chocolate this weekend See more of this house here: https://effecthomes.ca/our-homes/the-eagles-nest/
Part of our building it better motto is an air tight envelope. A well insulated home is much quieter and comfortable to live in. As an added bonus, heating and cooling bills are much lower! Here’s what we do to properly seal a home’s exterior: https://effecthomes.ca/build-it-better/building-envelope/
There are two types of Net Zero homes: Net Zero and Net Zero Ready. Both work together to significantly minimize your household’s environmental footprint and energy consumption! But what’s the difference between them and which option is best for you? Find out in CHBA National’s blog: https://blog.chba.ca//whats-the-difference-between-net-ze/
The Grotto’s Batcave has the coolest way to store a seasonal vehicle! We’ve installed a telescopic Phantom Car Lift by American Custom Lifts to lower a car into the basement. The top canopy completely covers the above garage flooring so the space can be fully utilized - as if the car disappears!
The ultimate space to relax Our Poole House renovation project was one of the most unique to date, bringing energy efficient upgrades into a 1960s West Coast inspired home. Learn more about this reno here: https://effecthomes.ca/our-homes/poole-renovation/

Enjoying the last few days of the holiday break with hockey in the yard and outdoor rink Thanks to the volunteers with the Bonnie Doon Community League for keeping the rink open and safe for our families!
We design homes to capture natural sunlight In our net zero homes, the floor absorbs the sunlight’s energy to help heat the house. This is called passive solar heating. Even with reduced hours of sunlight and the low angle of the sun this time of year, 1/3 of the heat needed for the Belgravia Green Net Zero Home is FREE passive solar heat from the sun! Home for the holidays We improvised our Christmas group photo since our team has been working remotely to keep the community safe! We’re excited to relax and spend quality time with families and friends (virtually if needed!) and hope you’re able to do the same this holiday season. Looking forward to seeing our team, building partners, and amazing clients in the New Year. Happy Holidays to you and all your loved ones!
One of the reasons our Garneau Home won Canadian Home Builders' Association-Edmonton Region’s Best Infill Over 4,000 Sq Ft was that it was 40% more efficient than any standard home. We’ve since made improvements that make this house even more environmentally friendly! With the help of SkyFire Energy, 50 solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall were added to the garage. The 18.8kW PV system and powerwall will back up the majority of the home's electrical needs! See more of the Garneau here: https://effecthomes.ca/our-homes/garneau-home/
Renovating to add an indoor pool or converting a bathroom into a spa were popularized this year because Canadians desired homes with more personal amenities. The pandemic has changed the way we live in our homes and what we expect out of our homes. Find out what the 8 other trends are, chosen by our Holmes Approved Homes partner, Mike Holmes.
