November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario. Woman abuse is not a women's issue. It is a grave violation of human rights, and it impacts us all. It negatively affects women's general well-being and prevents women from fully participating in society. Together, we can work to eliminate woman abuse. The purple scarf is a symbol of the courage it takes woman to leave her abuser. However, the courage of the woman is not enough. It takes the strength of an entire commun...ity to end violence against women. Here are some things YOU can do, not just this month but all year round, to prevent violence against women. Recognize inequality and encourage change. Commit to supporting women who have experience violence by addressing the multitude of barriers women face in our community. Stand firm in any efforts to eliminate violence in the lives of those who are most marginalized in our community. Support organizations that provide responsive, accessible, services and supports, public education, action, and advocacy to address the social, economic, and political conditions that create violence in the lives of women and children. #womanabusepreventionmonth #wrappedincourage #purplescarf #endviolenceagainstwomen #thereshelp #thereshope See more

Our work with Delta Bingo & Gaming has always been an important and valued partnership at our Agency. Over the last several years, as a registered charity and volunteer organization, Delta Bingo & Gaming helps to support our communities, programs and clients. The funds raised from gaming goes back to not only our organization, but a number of other neighbouring charities, to assist with a variety of key initiatives, helping to support and build stronger communities! Like ma...ny others, Delta Bingo has been impacted by COVID-19. Even as of recently, the Ontario government announced closures for gyms, fitness centres, dine-in restaurants and bars, and entertainment venues including casinos and bingo halls in Peel Region for a 28 day period. We hope that this lockdown in Peel Region will not be prolonged so that Bingo activities can continue and charities can continue to carry out their services and programs in local communities. In the meantime, Delta Bingo & Gaming have become incredibly creative coming up with new ways where folks can continue to be active in their communities and play bingo in safe and different ways. All bingo fans can now get excited for Drive-In Bingo at Delta Brampton on October 17th at 1:00 PM and October 31st at 1:00 PM. For more information, please visit Delta Bingo’s website: www.deltabingo.com/drive-in-bingo-brampton/ Today, we share our gratitude to Delta Bingo & Gaming for all that they have done and continue to do to support charities in distinct and valued ways. We look forward to joining them in-person once again! See more

Today we recognize the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation. A day for survivors to be reaffirmed that they matter, and so do those that have been affected. Every child matters. Let us continue to create meaningful discussion about the effects of residential schools and the legacy they have left behind in our respective communities, today and always. #everychildmatters #wehonouryou #orangeshirtday

Last night, we held our 46th Annual General Meeting. Of course, our gathering looked different this year - using outdoor space, maintaining physical distances, wearing masks and with under 10 people in attendance. Nonetheless, coming together with our Board of Directors, especially at our AGM, is always such an important evening - recognizing all of the change, challenge and success that we've endured over the last year. We take the time now to recognize our Board of Dire...ctors and thank them for their dedicated time and effort, supporting our organization over this past year. It is through their support, engagement and consistent connection that they are able to provide us with steadfast guidance on how we continue to do business and provide our clients with the best programming, support and care - especially as we navigate ourselves through a global health pandemic. Thank you for all that you do! Another special shout out to @theplattercompany for putting together these amazing individual charcuterie picnic boxes for our guests. A delicious and COVID-19 friendly treat!
