This is the perfect opportunity to try some back-to-basics naturally-dyed Easter egg techniques and start a new tradition that will be fun in years to come.... Well, March is winding down and today definitely feels spring-like. Keeping in mind all the precautions to help slow the COVID19 virus, what a great chance for the whole family to enjoy a walk around the block, tidy the yard, and start making the garden ready for vegetables and flowers. If you have a very small yard or live in an apartment, you can still enjoy planting. One of the earliest veggies you can plant directly outside grow quickly and easily in a large pot with good... drainage and a bag of good soil (the dollar stores sell an assortment of pots, pails and bins as well small bags of soil with added enrichment and packages of seeds for a low price. Just prepare your pot and soil, soak your peas in water for about a 1/2 hour and plant them a few inches apart in your pots following the package directions. March 25 2020 - sunny and spring-like - in fact planning to BBQ burgers for dinner - there are good things about being at home!!

While everyone is staying close to home during the COVID-19 season, it is a great time for a BBQ treat. Eh Plus Sports IS Canadian after all! Here is an easy recipe - open a tin of whole water chestnuts, rinse well and drain, then marinade in soya sauce for 30 minutes in the refrigerator (the longer you leave the water chestnuts in the soya sauce the stronger the flavour will be). Remove from the soya sauce and wrap the water chestnuts in a raw bacon strip cut to just go around the water chestnut once with a tiny overlap. Slide 2-3 pieces per serving onto a metal skewer, leaving a little space in between each one. Preheat your BBQ, then grill your skewer until the bacon is cooked and crispy. For extra pizzaz, serve with a little tomato-horseradish cocktail sauce. YUMMY!
