Calling all Canadian students with an interest in entrepreneurship, engineering innovation, and product design! The Schulich School of Engineering is excited to announce that the first TELUS Innovation Challenge, a one-of-a-kind national event designed to bring Canadian innovations to market, will be held on Feb. 16 to 19, 2021. The winning team will receive a $100,000 prize package from TELUS, including a seed fund to help build their prototype, and personalized mentorship ...to support the development of their go-to-market plan. Additional support to winning teams of up to $100,000 will be provided by Alberta Innovates to support commercialization that could include mentorship, resources and infrastructure from TELUS and Alberta Innovates. Challenge components include: the submission of a project proposal; opportunities to attend training workshops and receive mentorship from senior executives and industry experts; and the delivery of a 10-minute pitch followed by a 10-minute Q&A with our panel of industry judges. Young Agrarians is excited to be launching the Business Bootcamp this January! This online, community-based program will give you the space and skills to write a stellar business plan for your farm. We have carefully selected an exceptional team of first-generation farmers and business experts to help you get your farm off the ground. The Business Bootcamp will cover everything from writing a mission statement to creating a financial plan to defining a marketing strategy. In ...this program you will have the opportunity to: Write a farm business plan Get insights from experts on your farm business Get to know others in farm start-up Get ideas and inspiration from your peers Get set up to access capital The Business Bootcamp is a ten-week program, packed full of content and activities that will guide you through writing your farm business plan. Each week will include pre-recorded videos, worksheet and a 2-hour online session (evening). This program is open to all new and aspiring farmers with the goal being to write (or rewrite) a business plan for a farm enterprise. The Business Bootcamp is a great place to explore the viability of your farm dream, figure out details for your first growing season, or to investigate adding another enterprise to your current farm. The Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition (QEC) is one of the most prestigious undergraduate competitions in Canada with over $80,000 in prizes each year. The competition is student-run and judged by company executives, a few notable companies in the past are: Google, CIBC, NEO, and Accenture. On other days, you will be required to take part in ...the design, strategy and operations of the company. An ideal person for this role would have an utmost attention to detail and the ability to make right decisions on ground in order to offer an exceptional customer experience. Although prior start up experience is desired but if you are someone who wants to make an impact in the Furniture-As-A-Service industry, you are welcome to apply. The position would eventually translate to the role of a Chief Operating Officer (COO). You will be offered an equity of 5-15 % over the span of 2 years, depending upon the performance (KPI's) and commitment.
