9 ways to improve your child's behaviour 1. Be specific, decide what certain behaviour you want to improve and focus on it. 2. Talk to your child about what new... behaviour to expect. 3. Show how this new behaviour could be gained. 4. Recognize and compliment the new behaviour until it becomes a habit. 5. Never use violence. Instead be creative and resort to fun-oriented ways; games, stories, rewards etc. 6. Don't recall previous misbehaviour or past mistakes. It annoys, embarrasses and frustrates 7. Show don't tell a real example. Become a role model. 8. Be a mentor at all times. Not just when there is a problem. 9. Don't advise when you are cross, tired, or in bad mood. The child switches off.
