Did you know that COVID-19 has affected mortgage rates? Lisa Hilton and I sat down over zoom recently to talk about how COVID-19 is affecting mortgages. After you've watched this video we should talk.
Canada Mortgage and Housing has decided to make things a little harder to qualify for your home. Your credit score is going to need to be higher and we'll have to use a little less of your income to qualify. Read on for full details or give me a call to discuss.
Lisa Hilton and I sat down over zoom recently to talk about how COVID-19 is affecting mortgages. If you've had questions about rates, what mortgage deferral really means, or are wondering if it's safe to buy during these times, have a look.
Bank of Canada keeps rates as is for now......
Bank of Canada has dropped it's benchmark rate for the first time since 2016.

The federal budget is out with an increase to the First Time Homebuyer withdrawl program up to $35,000.00 from the previous $25,000.00. The are also bringing out a "shared equity mortgage" detail are vague but read on.....
Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions brought in the stress test 13 months ago making it much harder to qualify for mortgages. Looks like no changes yet, but hopefully the pressure continues and we see some relief down the road.
A great reminder of Government incentives.
Bank of Canada holds rates, read below to see what the forecast is.
Great information!
This rate hike signals that the Bank of Canada is determined to bring its benchmark overnight rate back to more normal levels and that the economy is strong enough to withstand further rate increases. Even though the prime rate has risen there are still plenty of variable rate mortgage options that still make sense.
As expected the Bank of Canada has raised it's overnight interest rate by .25% based on the strength of our Canadian economy. Our variable rate mortgage clients will feel the rate increase in their next months mortgage payment. If you have questions about how this affects you, please don't hesitate to contact me.
The Bank of Canada has left their overnight rate unchanged but expect a rate increase in the next couple of meetings.
As expected the Bank of Canada has increased it's overnight rate by .25 but the uncertainty of NAFTA clouds any future predictions of rate increases for now.
Will the bank of Canada raise rates next week? Some banks seem to think so.
Well the Government has made good on their promise to makes qualifying for a mortgage even tougher. As of January 1st 2018 new mortgage rules come into effect for buyers with 20% down or more...... see the details below.
