Weekly Market Update: Last week Major League Baseball opened its 2020 season, with the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals playing the first game in Washington, D.C. This opening day for baseball mirrored the challenges of reopening for municipalities across the globe, with delayed start dates, extended safety protocols, and reduced crowd size. Pics from the 2019 Summer Regional Meeting in St. Louis, MO: July is normally the month that Edward Jones Financial Advisors and their families attend their Summer Regional Meetings. A mix of business meetings and personal time, the Summer Regional allows advisors to refresh their industry knowledge, celebrate their successes, and most importantly strengthen personal and social connections with their colleagues and families. Unable to meet this year 2020, our Region (Vancou...ver Island) normally travels up Island, or heads to Whistler, but last year we had the privilege of visiting our Home Office in St. Louis. Mixed with business, we were able to celebrate and see the sights, including a visit to the Jones family farm! After a precipitous decline in economic activity in the second quarter, the economy is set to rebound faster than in previous recessions on the tailwinds of pent-up consumer demand and an unprecedented amount of fiscal and monetary stimulus. Weekly Market Update: The first half of 2020 contained an all-time high for stocks, a global pandemic, a swift and severe recession along with the sharpest bear market drop on record followed by a strong market rally that included the fifth-strongest quarterly gain for the S&P 500 in the post-war era. So with all of that packed into the first half, what's in store for the second half of the year?

While social media often shows us a window into other peoples now, we can forget that what is now is the result of months or years of progress. The same is true for investing and the accumulation of wealth. Its important to remember that most people make their money over time, not overnight.

It's been devastating to see the acts of racism and violence against Black communities. We are not immune to racism here in Canada and the devastation in the US is a strong reminder that we all need to take responsibility to end racism and discrimination. We all must do our part in standing up against racism by educating ourselves, listening and being an ally to our Black communities, clients and associates.

Weekly Market Update: Driving through fog is difficult. Its hard to see the road and even harder to see the destination. In the same sense the path from recession to recovery can be just as hard to make out.
