Ekhorn Tree Care 07.11.2020

Today we did phase 1 of pruning this lovely Maple. We gave it some clearance to the carport, reduced it away from the neighbour's yard, took out some problem branches and deadwood. Phase 2 will be completed in the winter, reducing the height a little bit. This will be done when the tree is dormant and the sun won't scorch the leaves, to allow for the best possible healing. A fun little job in Poco with an awesome client, thanks Elaine! @ Port Coquitlam, British Columbia

Safety first! A couple months back I spent some time in Squamish Valley helping some friends with a management plan for the ranch they live on and making their living spaces safe. This tree had a few large broken branches hanging above one of their trailers which were removed. I also did some end weight reductions on over-extended branches.

I had tons of fun pruning these Big Leaf Maples and swinging around yesterday. To provide building clearance and get more light into the backyard we removed some very large and long limbs off 2 Maples and a Cedar. Tying into a Maple behind the ones being cut then re-directing the climb line to position myself exactly where I needed to be, we rigged everything down to ensure no damage was done to the garden, shed or house. This job was done in partnership with Arsenault Tree Service. Here's what the client had to say in their review on Arsenault's Facebook page: "Excellent service, friendly and clean. You would never know trees were cut. Would strongly recommend them." Thanks, Lynn! @ Abbotsford, British Columbia

A before & after of an Elm tree's crown clean done in the fall. This particular tree had a lot of deadwood, large low hanging branches over the client's parking spot and their neighbour's garage, and water sprouts - a tree's response to stress. These sprouts grow quickly and often in bundles when a tree is stressed and trying to save itself. A crown clean will look different for every tree. Here we raised the canopy over the parking spot and garage and removed dead and broken branches, water sprouts and problem branches causing damage to themselves. Doing this allows more light and wind filtration as well as promoting a healthy tree and reducing the possibility of future problems. @ Vancouver, British Columbia

Hazardous tree removals at Pitt Lake. The Ekhorn crew does everything we can to manage and preserve trees before deciding to remove them. However, sometimes trees have got to go. A few weeks back we took down 5 hazardous trees at a cabin lot on Pitt Lake. The trees were dead with fungus growing throughout them and some were nearly touching the cabin. With these trees down, the family living there feels much safer allowing children and pets to play in the yard.... These sorts of jobs are dangerous not only because of the trees themselves, but the remote location. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of safety and take all necessary measures to keep ourselves, our clients and their property safe. Contact us if you have a hazardous tree you'd like removed!
